Dental veneers are thin layers of ceramic or porcelain generally, although they can also be made of other materials like composite. They are adhered to the front of the teeth to correct: shape, size, position, color, and fractures or wear.

Ceramic veneers are often a very conservative treatment that requires less tooth preparation than crowns. They are the ideal choice in cases where the original tooth has a dark color and irregular shapes. They are also a good option for fractured teeth, if there are gaps between the teeth, or for some cases where the position of the teeth is compromised and there are minor occlusion-related issues.

Once the veneers are adhered to the tooth, the tooth-veneer combination acquires a fracture resistance comparable to that of an intact tooth. Thus, a ceramic dental veneer can be understood as a synthetic substitute for dental enamel.

How long does the treatment last?

Before starting the clinical treatment, we design a study of the patient’s mouth aesthetics that aligns with the rest of their facial features.

To conduct this study, we use photographs, specific software applications such as Digital Smile Design, and models of the patient’s mouth. This way, we can show you a very close approximation of what your final smile will look like before we begin. You can also request anti-aging or facial aesthetic advice to improve the final result according to your expectations.

First session: the preparation of the teeth and taking of molds of the mouth are carried out to create the dental veneers. During this same visit, provisional veneers will be placed to prevent deterioration of the tooth preparation; no one will notice

Second session: the dental veneers are adhered one by one to the teeth.

How long do they last?

. . . .

Among all the different types of restorations that can be done in the mouth, veneers are the most long-lasting. The survival rate is above 94% after 12 years. As with any dental treatment, you should visit your dentist regularly, at least once a year.

Porcelain veneers require minimal maintenance as their color does not degrade. In contrast, composite veneers require annual professional cleaning and polishing to restore their shine.

Are they noticeable?

. . . .

They should not be noticeable. Precisely, the value of this treatment is its ability to give your smile naturalness. We have a team of highly specialized professionals with exquisite aesthetic sensitivity, which constitutes our hallmark.

Composite veneers

It is a minimally invasive treatment where layers of synthetic resin are added to the outer surface of the tooth, providing excellent results.

This type of dental veneer is increasingly used in dental practices because with them, we can replace a fractured edge, increase the size of the teeth, close diastemas (spaces between teeth), or change the shape of the teeth while keeping the natural teeth.

Therefore, its main advantage is that if they break, they can be perfectly repaired in the office.

It is a cost-effective treatment compared to porcelain veneers, and the material can last up to 10 years. It is necessary to visit the dentist every 6 to 12 months to check the condition of the veneers and maintain good oral hygiene.
